Three-star wide receiver Jaylen Pile visited Michigan’s campus on Saturday for the Oregon game, marking his first visit since committing to the Wolverines just two weeks earlier. Despite Michigan's 38-17 loss to the Ducks, Pile’s trip was notable for the connections he made with four-star running back Javian Osborne.
Michigan commit Pile did his part in recruiting Osborne to Sherrone Moore's program and shared the game-day experience with 247 Sports, saying:
"My guy JO was there and we visited for the Texas game together and have been friends since 8th grade and he's a dog."
Osborne has been a frequent visitor to Michigan since running backs coach Tony Alford's arrival in March. He was in attendance during Michigan’s 31-12 loss to Texas on Sept. 7 and has shown a growing interest in the program.
Speaking to 247Sports, Osborne said:
"They've been the highest on my list and have remained that way for months now!"
While Texas currently holds a dominant 79.9% chance of securing Osborne’s commitment, according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan’s efforts appear to be making headway.
"I feel I can see myself thriving in that offense and being a playmaker there," Osborne told Rivals.
Osborne is ranked by Rivals as the No. 114 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 8 running back in the 2026 class and the No. 13 recruit in Texas.
Javian Osborne's father opens up about Michigan's appeal
Javian Osborne has received more than two dozen offers from programs like Texas, Oregon, Alabama, Florida State, Oklahoma, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and USC, among others.
Speaking with On3, Osborne's father Maurice Osborne Jr. discussed Michigan's push for the prospect, saying:
"A lot of schools can blow smoke. Michigan is shooting it straight. The message is loud and clear for what they want with JO."
Texas native Jaylen Pile became Michigan's most recent and third commit to the class of 2026 in October. The class also features four-star cornerback Brody Jennings and four-star quarterback Brady Hart, ranking No. 14 in the nation (per On3).
Besides Javian Osborne, Michigan is also targeting four-star running back Savion Hiter, as the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives it a 26% chance of securing his commitment. The Wolverines are also trending for four-star running back Javian Mallory with an 84% chance of landing his pledge.
