The No. 1 prospect in the high school basketball class of 2025, AJ Dybantsa, is in awe of his Utah Prep teammate Jaden Vance’s bucket against Mt. Zion Prep.

Although Utah Prep was on the receiving end of a 59-56 loss at home, one of the major highlights of the game was Vance’s putback in the course of the game.

The 6’6 small forward/shooting guard came out of nowhere to dunk home a rebound. While it was not enough to give his side the win, it did catch the attention of Dybantsa, who reshared the moment on his IG stories.

Nonetheless, despite Vance’s dunk, the 18-year-old could only manage eight points and two rebounds in the 27 minutes he played.

As for Dybantsa, he put up a decent performance, but it was not spectacular as Utah Prep lost at home.

The small forward with an On3 NIL value of $2.6M recorded 13 points, nine rebounds, and four assists but was outdone by unranked prospect Quiron Elliot, who dropped 22 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

AJ Dybantsa, Jaden Vance, and Utah Prep have the chance to bounce back

The good news for AJ Dybantsa, Jaden Vance, and Utah Prep is that they have the chance to put the result behind them as they return to action on Dec 8.

The team will face Dybantsa’s former school Prolific Prep, led by the No. 3 ranked Darryn Peterson, on Sunday, Dec 8, 2024. Following that game, Utah Prep and Dybantsa will then take on Duncanville, led by Kayden Edwards, on Dec 14, 2024

The team will go on a holiday break after the game on Dec 14 before Dybantsa faces off against Jermaine O'Neal in Utah Prep’s clash against Dynamic Prep on Jan 10, 2025, and national champions, Montverde Academy, on Jan 19, 2025.

This run of games also gives Utah Prep and Dybantsa a chance to bounce back from the loss. Utah Prep is currently ranked 6th in the TSG Power Conference with five wins and two losses, although one of those came against Fort Erie in pre-season during the Grind Session in Toronto.

As for Dybantsa, he will hope to improve on his performances in these games. The Brockton, Massachusetts native is averaging 18.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game this season but can improve on it in the next run of games.
