Izayia Williams, an elite linebacker from Florida, has reportedly de-committed from Syracuse, reopening his recruitment. Standing at 6'2" and weighing 260 pounds, Williams is a highly coveted prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.
Williams, rated as a four-star prospect and the 126th-best player in the 2026 class, has already had a dynamic recruitment journey. He previously committed to Louisville in November 2023.
Notably, he is the second decommitment from Syracuse's 2026 class following Demetres Samuel Jr., who switched his commitment to Florida and reclassified to the 2025 class.

"I was really happy getting that offer from Miami," Williams told CaneSport. "They like how I am very versatile, and they really like my film."
Miami holds a special place in Williams' heart, as he has admired the program and its legacy.
"Miami has always been a school that I wanted to go to," Williams added. "But I thought the offer would come later, maybe during my junior year or senior year. I love Miami and would want to be part of that program."

The tradition of defense at Florida State and the NFL-quality linebackers they produce make Williams fascinated with the school. The Seminoles' defense displayed their power during the 2023–24 season, as they only allowed a total of 170.4 rushing yards per game and also had 40 sacks.

Florida's 2026 recruiting class includes highly touted prospects such as linebacker Aaron Chiles, who is ranked 86th in the class. Izayia Williams made 40 total tackles, 23 solo tackles, and two sacks last year at Leesburg High School.
