Izayia Williams, an elite linebacker from Florida, has reportedly de-committed from Syracuse, reopening his recruitment. Standing at 6'2" and weighing 260 pounds, Williams is a highly coveted prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.

Williams, rated as a four-star prospect and the 126th-best player in the 2026 class, has already had a dynamic recruitment journey. He previously committed to Louisville in November 2023.

Notably, he is the second decommitment from Syracuse's 2026 class following Demetres Samuel Jr., who switched his commitment to Florida and reclassified to the 2025 class.

Miami Hurricanes linebackers coach Derek Nicholson sees him as a multi-faceted athlete capable of excelling in various roles. Williams expressed his excitement about receiving an offer from Miami, which he had long hoped for.

"I was really happy getting that offer from Miami," Williams told CaneSport. "They like how I am very versatile, and they really like my film."

Miami holds a special place in Williams' heart, as he has admired the program and its legacy.

"Miami has always been a school that I wanted to go to," Williams added. "But I thought the offer would come later, maybe during my junior year or senior year. I love Miami and would want to be part of that program."

Izayia Williams has expressed enthusiasm for the recruiting process.

#1. Florida Gators

The Florida Gators, competing in the rigorous SEC, are positioned as a leading contender for Izayia Williams' commitment.

The Gators' high-powered offense, averaging 408.8 yards per game in 2024, demonstrates their competitive edge. Williams has a deep-rooted affinity for the Gators.

"For several months now, Williams has told Gators Online that Florida has the best shot at flipping him," On3's Bender noted.

Florida's 2026 recruiting class includes highly touted prospects such as linebacker Aaron Chiles, who is ranked 86th in the class. Izayia Williams made 40 total tackles, 23 solo tackles, and two sacks last year at Leesburg High School.
