Derek Meadows, a standout wide receiver from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, is one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2027 class. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 200 pounds, Meadows has attracted significant attention from top college football programs.

Initially set to announce his college commitment last Saturday, Meadows postponed his decision and will now reveal his choice on July 20. Leading the race for his talents are Notre Dame, LSU and Alabama.

Top 3 landing spots for Derek Meadows:

No. 3: Alabama

Alabama, with On3’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class, hosted Derek Meadows for a visit on June 21. The Crimson Tide's appeal lies in their coaching staff and advanced facilities. The WR's father DeShawn Meadows noted:

"They’re attractive for a couple reasons. Coach Shephard being a great coach for wide receivers and a great motivator. Kalen DeBoer being a wide receiver really helps. He was a receiver as a coach. That school from a technology perspective has a lot of technology we like."

No. 2: LSU

Meadows visited LSU on June 19, marking his return to Baton Rouge. The Tigers have On3’s No. 5 ranked recruiting class, led by five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.

DeShawn Meadows emphasized the connections the family has with LSU:

"Wide receiver coach played in the league. They throw the ball. The food is awesome. And we have a lot of ties with people in that organization."

Bryce Underwood, the nation’s top recruit, has also influenced Meadows' interest in LSU.

"Bryce Underwood is definitely a factor," Meadows said. "He comes from my old state of Michigan. Got a chance to meet him at the Nike the Next Ones. He’s a nice young man and he has a rocket for an arm. It definitely helps."

No. 1: Notre Dame

Notre Dame has been a strong contender for Meadows since last year, with former wide receivers coach Chansi Stuckey initially spearheading the recruitment efforts. With Mike Brown now as the wide receivers coach, the Fighting Irish have managed to maintain Meadows' interest. The Irish boast On3’s No. 6 ranked recruiting class and have prioritized Meadows from early on.

Derek Meadows has visited South Bend more frequently than any other school in his top five. The receiver's father highlighted several factors that make Notre Dame appealing:

"Global brand, well known all over the universe. Great institution for education. (New offensive coordinator Mike) Denbrock coming over to the organization is a big deal. Head coach is very cool and calm and connected."

Additionally, the family has personal ties to Indiana, including a grandmother and a close family friend who live there. Derek Meadows' high school performance has been impressive, with 15 receptions for 391 yards and eight touchdowns in just 10 games during his junior year.

With his commitment date approaching, Derek Meadows is weighing his options. Notre Dame, LSU and Alabama are making their final pitches, each hoping to secure the talented wide receiver for their 2027 class
