Four-star edge rusher Bryce Davis is among the most highly-touted prospects in the 2025 class. He has already named his final four schools: Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia and Duke.
Davis is known for his heavy hands and lightning-quick feet. He is ranked as the No. 15 edge rusher in the 2025 class and the No. 6 prospect in North Carolina by On3. 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 9 edge rusher in the class, the No. 3 prospect in North Carolina and the No. 64 overall recruit in the nation.
So which three programs are fighting to earn Davis' pledge for the 2025 class?
Top 3 programs vying for Bryce Davis' pledge
3. Georgia
Georgia has long been considered a major contender for Bryce Davis due to its storied tradition of producing top-tier defensive talent. The Bulldogs targeted him during his freshman year but offered him as a sophomore.
Davis has visited Athens around half a dozen times, including an official visit on June 14.
“I have grat connections at Georgia," Davis told On3. "They have been consistent with me and always recruited me hard. That is one thing I like about them. Then, the program is just great."
His personal goals align with Georgia’s rich history.
"I want to compete against the best and there is no better place to do that than Georgia. The coaches at Georgia could help me on and off the field. Georgia has been there from the beginning,” Davis added.
Davis' strong connection with current Bulldogs player Jamaal Jarrett, a high school teammate, can also play a role. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Bulldogs have a 2.2% chance to earn Davis' commitment. The 2025 class, ranking No. 3 nationally according to the On3 team ranking, has 20 committed players.
2. South Carolina
South Carolina has made a strong impression on Bryce Davis due to its development program and coaching staff.
“Definitely, the development piece stood out to me the most,” Davis told On3. “They opened my eyes, him and Coach Beamer, Coach White, and Coach Day, the strength and conditioning program over there, it’s just crazy. I could definitely get development here, and all the people here, it speaks volumes.”
The program's defensive coach, Sterling Lucas, built a relationship with Davis and his family, which is worth noting. Lucas is the one who insisted on Davis' official visit.
“I mean, his energy and charisma is crazy, you know what I’m saying? It’s contagious. Every time I talk to him, man, he’s got me, like, just laughing, joking around. And how he treats my family, like, that’s family," Davis said about Lucas.
According to On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Gamecocks have a 2.6% chance to earn Davis' pledge. The 2025 class already boasts 19 committed players and ranks No. 25 nationally.
1. Clemson
Clemson has gained significant buzz since Davis’s official visit to the program at the end of May. Experts Steve Wilfong and Chad Simmons from On3 predict that the program is poised to secure Davis' commitment.
Clemson’s reputation for developing NFL-ready defensive linemen, such as Myles Murphy and Bryan Bresee, is a major draw for Davis. He raved about the program's elite coaching staff.
“Coach Nick Eason and coach Chris Rumph are great guys and they are a great defensive line coaching tandem. Coach Eason has always been there and I love the hiring of coach Rumph. They are part of that real family atmosphere at Clemson," Davis said.
The Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class is ranked No. 8 nationally and No. 1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with 13 commitments.
