Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes face the challenge of filling the void left by standout players Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. Fortunately, a fresh wave of recruits is set to infuse new energy into the roster.
Top 4 signees who can make an impact for Coach Prime
#1. Julian Lewis
Julian Lewis, a dynamic quarterback from Carrollton, Georgia, is a promising addition to Colorado’s roster. Initially committed to USC, Lewis made headlines by reclassifying to the Class of 2025 and joining the Buffaloes in November.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound signal-caller boasts an impressive high school resume, having completed 75.8% of his passes for 3,272 yards and 44 touchdowns during his most recent season.
Set to enroll at Colorado in January, Lewis is eager to compete for the starting quarterback position. Reflecting on the opportunity, he stated:
"Coach Prime’s always said the best man’s gonna play. And that’s really what I wanted, was to be able to come in and compete and start as a freshman. I wouldn’t have much fun sitting on the bench."
#2. Carde Smith
Another exciting addition to the team is offensive lineman Carde Smith, who decommitted from USC in November to become part of the Buffaloes. Before he pledged to Auburn, the Alabaman was a high-demand prospect in the recruiting process.
#3. London Merritt
London Merritt, a splendid defensive end from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, is Boston College’s 2025 class most sought-after recruit. Leaping 6-foot-3 in height and tipping at 250 pounds, Merritt is listed 52nd in the ESPN 300 chart and is recognized to be the fifth-best defensive end prospect in the country.
Initially committed to Ohio State, Merritt switched his allegiance to Colorado in late November, becoming the second-highest-ranked commit for the Buffaloes behind Lewis.
Merritt’s ability to disrupt opposing offenses and his physical presence on the field make him an invaluable asset to Colorado’s defense.
#4. Christian Hudson
Christian Hudson from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida, is a defensive tackle that brings depth and tramp to Colorado’s defensive front. Being 6-foot-2 and weighing 290 pounds, Hudson has performed excellently on the way of the ball.
During his junior season, he recorded 69 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and nine sacks, playing a pivotal role in Mainland’s first state championship since 2003.
In addition to football, Hudson has showcased his athleticism through wrestling and track and field, where he logged a shot put throw of 14.9 meters.
