The No. 3 recruit of the Class of 2025, Darryn Peterson is rated at the first spot in his position, region and state. He has a 96 Scout Grade, according to ESPN and has been given five stars by ESPN, On3, Rivals and 247Sports.
With a plethora of offers from across the nation, Peterson has narrowed his list down to four colleges: USC, Ohio State, Kansas State and Kansas. The 6'6" shooting guard took to Instagram to announce that he will be making his decision on Nov. 1:

#4 USC Trojans
Darryn Peterson included the USC Trojans in his top eight college choices on Jul. 31. He made his official visit with Eric Musselman and staff on Aug. 2. According to the On3 prediction machine, the Trojans have a 1.5% chance of recruiting the Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio native. While talking to On3, this is what he said about Musselman:
"Coach (Eric) Musselman, that’s my guy. With them, it’s the big guards. Anthony Black, and Nick Smith, he’s gotten big guards to the league, big point guards.”
#3 Ohio State
Ohio State sent an offer to Peterson on Nov. 2, 2021 and was named in Peterson's top 16 list on Sept. 23, 2023 and then later in his top eight on Jan. 1, 2024. However, on Jul. 31, some of the names on the list changed, but he still considered the offer from Jake Diebler. He made his official visit to the Buckeyes on Aug. 30. According to On3, Ohio State has a 2.8% prediction to sign Darryn Peterson to a committment. This is what he said about Diebler while speaking with On3:
“That’s the hometown. Coach (Jake) Diebler said he wanted to have me in that ball screen action a lot. That’s big for me, playing that point guard position.”
#2 Kansas State
Kansas State marked Peterson's latest visit as he made his way to Jerome Tang's team on Sept. 27. However, the Wildcats have the same chance of recruiting Darryn Peterson as the USC Trojans at 1.5% prediction, as per On3's prediction machine.
#1 Kansas Jayhawks
On Jan. 1, 2024, Peterson included Kansas Jayhawks in his top eight. He made his official visit on Jul. 23, 2024. However, according to On3's prediction machine, the Jayhawks have the highest chance of recruiting the No. 3 prospect in the nation with an 89.8% chance. This is what Darryn Peterson had to say about the team:
“I knew a lot about Kansas coming into the visit. I’ve been a fan of Kansas for a long time, so I knew everything about the program. Being able to talk to Coach (Bill) Self was cool. I’ve never been able to talk with him face-to-face like that. He’s a cool guy and a great coach. The biggest thing about the facilities for me was they have a gym inside of where they live. I would be able to get into that whenever I need to.”
