California continues to solidify its status as a hub for elite football talent, with several players from the 2025 recruiting class grabbing national attention. Among these, USC's prized quarterback recruit, Husan Longstreet, has emerged as the standout per On3's latest rankings.
Top five college football signings from California:
#1. Husan Longstreet – USC
Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds, Husan Longstreet from Centennial High School in Corona has cemented his place as one of the most coveted quarterbacks in the 2025 class.
A five-star recruit, he is ranked as the nation’s No. 13 prospect by On3, No. 28 by 247Sports, No. 47 by ESPN, and No. 88 by Rivals. Within California, he holds the top spot on On3’s list, second place according to 247Sports and ESPN, and seventh per Rivals.
Despite an injury that cut short his senior season, Longstreet performed well. He completed 109 out of 165 passes, which accounted to 66.1 percent for 1,641 yards and scored 19 touchdowns.
#2. Djijon Lee – Alabama
Djijon Lee, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound cornerback from California, is the next top performer. His high school is Mission Viejo. As a junior, his stats were impressive: 55 tackles, two of which were so low he was alone, two interceptions, and 13 pass breakups.
On the track, he proved his versatility by bagging the triple jump individual event of the league and simultaneously competing in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles.
#3. Jackson Lloyd – Alabama
Jackson Lloyd, a 6’6”, 295-pound offensive tackle from Carmel High School, is a three-sport athlete with solid performances in each discipline. Although he has opted to focus solely on football, his former coaches celebrated his decision.
He was described as a “competitor” by his baseball coach, Mike Kelly.
"He's an intimidating force and a super competitive person," Kelly said.
Alternatively, his football coach, Golden Anderson, also praised Lloyd for his ability to process complex plays.
“He has the physical skills. He is still growing into his body. We brought him up to varsity as a freshman because we felt it would be better for his development. He was never overwhelmed.”
#4. Adonyss Currie – Texas A&M
At 6’1” and 170 pounds, Adonyss Currie from Quartz Hill High School is a versatile defensive back with a knack for making plays on both sides of the ball. Currie was honored as a 2025 Navy All-American and will participate in the prestigious East vs. West matchup at the Alamodome in January 2025.
#5. Chuck McDonald – Alabama
Chuck McDonald, a 6’0”, 185-pound cornerback from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, rounds out this list. A unanimous four-star recruit, McDonald climbed the rankings to No. 56 on the Rivals100 and is regarded as the fifth-best cornerback in the nation.
Coached by Raul Lara at Mater Dei, McDonald was selected to play in the Navy All-American Bowl.
