As the 2024-25 high school football season charges forward, several defensive standouts are making their presence known nationwide. With their dominant pass-rushing abilities, these players are causing havoc for opposing quarterbacks and driving their teams to victory.

Topping the list of sack leaders is Jaden Williams of Mission Viejo, but there are other rising stars making their mark as well.

#5. Carl Talanoa – Senior, West Jordan (UT)

Carl Talanoa, a senior linebacker for West Jordan High School in Utah, is a force to be reckoned with on the defensive side.

Talanoa has recorded an impressive 15 sacks, along with 75 total tackles, including 15 tackles for loss. Talanoa's stats include 2 forced fumbles and an interception, showcasing his versatility and playmaking abilities.

#4. Colby Cronk – Senior, West Jordan (UT)

Standing tall at 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, Colby Cronk is one of the most dominant offensive linemen in the nation. Ranked among the top players nationally, and in Florida, Cronk has accumulated 15 sacks this season.

His ability to hold off defenders with 45 recorded pancake blocks has made him indispensable in both offensive and defensive scenarios for West Jordan.

#3. Michael McClenton – Junior, Ocoee High School (FL)

With 17 sacks to his name, junior defensive end Michael McClenton is making waves in Florida high school football. His season started strong, racking up ten sacks in the first four games.

In his most recent game, McClenton added another seven sacks, establishing himself as a consistent and dangerous pass rusher. In addition to his 17 sacks, McClenton has 45 total tackles, including 10 tackles for loss.

#2. Garrison Dibble – Senior, Atkins High School (Winston-Salem, NC)

Another top-tier pass rusher, Garrison Dibble of Atkins High School in North Carolina, has been a menace to offenses all season. Dibble has 17 sacks, tying him for second in the nation.

His momentum is impressive so far and he has at least two sacks in each game this season. He recorded 40 tackles, and 10 tackles for loss, which makes him a well-rounded defensive threat.

#1. Jaden Williams – Senior, Mission Viejo (CA)

At the top of the leaderboard is Jaden Williams from Mission Viejo High School in California, who is currently leading the nation with an astounding 20 sacks.

Williams, who has already committed to San Diego State, has been nothing short of spectacular this season, recording 32 tackles for loss for the undefeated Diablos. Williams is ranked No. 10 nationally.

Through his five games, he has registered at least three sacks, but his impressive performance of achieving six sacks in a 51-10 win on September 27 was incredible. Williams has managed to get 38.5 sacks since the beginning of his junior year, which ultimately placed him as the top pass rusher in high school football.
