Florida State's four-star quarterback commit Tramell Jones Jr. suffered a huge setback early in his senior season. After leading Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida, to a dominant 57-13 victory over Creekside in the season opener, the signal-caller was injured during the first quarter of his team's next game against Atlantic Coast High School.

The injury was severe enough that the 6-foot, 195-pound prospect had to be carted off the field, and it was later confirmed by a source to The Osceola that he had sustained a broken ankle. The source also revealed that the devastating injury would sideline him for the remainder of his senior year.

This news is a major blow for both Jones and his team, as he has been a key player for Mandarin since his freshman year. Before the injury, the quarterback had an incredible start to the season, as he completed 15 of 17 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns and posted an outstanding 167.3 QBR in the season opener against Creekside.

Over his high school career, Tramell Jones has shown consistent improvement by increasing his completion percentage each year and accumulating over 6,700 passing yards and 70 touchdowns. He is rated by the On3 Industry Ranking as the No. 237 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 17 quarterback in the 2025 class and the No. 36 recruit in Florida.

Tramell Jones shares his take on the gruesome injury

Tramell Jones was among the 20 quarterbacks invited to the prestigious Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles earlier this year and faced high expectations heading into his final high school season. But the injury has significantly hampered his plans.

Despite the somber news reported by The Osceola about his season-ending setback, Jones took to social media platform X on Tuesday morning to share his positive outlook on the situation.

“I would like to thank everyone for reaching out and having me in your prayers and concerned about my well being," Jones wrote. "This is a minor setback and I will be back very soon. I will continue to be active and supporting my Mandarin Mustang family as they make another state run, I have no doubt they have enough to get the job done."

Tramell Jones has been committed to the Florida State Seminoles since April last year and officially shut down his recruitment in late June. He also reaffirmed his dedication to the program in his statement:

"I will also, still be actively recruiting for Florida State University. I’m committed to my goals I have set forth over the past years. Failure is not an option when you have your mind set for greatness.”

The No. 10-ranked Florida State has had a rocky start to the 2024 season after suffering defeats to Georgia Tech and Boston College. It is something the Seminoles fans will not expect to repeat in the upcoming games. However, their 2025 class looks promising with the commitment of 13 players.
