Auburn has hit a rough patch, going winless in the Southeastern Conference play, standing at 0-4. However, four-star Auburn quarterback commit Deuce Knight believes in his coach, Hugh Freeze.
"Just be patient — trust in us, trust in Coach Freeze," Knight told 247 Sports on Sunday. "He's got the plan, that's the man with the plan. Be patient and we're going to turn everything around."
Last weekend, the Tigers' close 21-17 loss to the No. 19 Missouri extended their losing streak to four games, bringing their overall record to 2-5.
However, Freeze has avoided losing seasons for over three decades, so he is no stranger to turning things around. Hopefully, Auburn's upcoming road game against Kentucky this weekend will end its losing streak.
While the on-field results were disappointing, Auburn’s recruiting efforts continue to thrive. The 2025 class got a significant boost when Deuce Knight flipped his commitment from Notre Dame to Auburn earlier this month.
Four game-day visits and an official visit sealed the deal for the Tigers to secure Knight's commitment. The Tigers' 2025 class has jumped from No. 8 to No. 5 and holds 27 committed players. Besides Knight, the cycle holds multiple blue-chip prospects like Derick Smith, Jared Smith and Anquon Fegans, among others.
Deuce Knight shines in George County's win over Hancock
Last season, Deuce Knight had a roller coaster of a journey. He transferred to Nashville's Lipscomb Academy and then returned to George County High School in Mississippi in mid-season.
Knight is thriving this season. Last Friday night, he led George County to a 51-41 victory over Hancock, completing 10 of 16 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns. This game extended Hancock's losing streak to four games against the Rebels.
With this win, George County improved to a 5-3 record, winning three of its last four games. Meanwhile, Knight also continues to prove he can be a potential five-star prospect. He is ranked as the No. 52 overall prospect nationally, the No. 2 recruit in Mississippi and the No. 6 quarterback in the 2025 class per 247 Sports.
