Meleek Thomas, currently ranked No. 6 overall in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings, has taken the basketball world by storm. The 6-foot-3 guard, who secured a Pennsylvania state championship this season, announced his transfer to Atlanta's Overtime Elite for his senior year.

With his senior year approaching, Thomas has narrowed his college choices to seven schools, sparking lively discussions among fans.

The five-star shooting guard from Pittsburgh, PA, has listed Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Kansas, Kansas State, Pitt and UConn as his top seven choices. Thomas, who has already visited Pitt, UConn and Auburn, revealed in an On3 interview his plans to visit Arkansas, Kansas, Alabama and potentially Kansas State, likely around September or October.

His decision has fans abuzz with speculation.

"War Eagle," a fan said.
"He’s a Husky we know that already," another fan said.

Here is how other fans are reacting to this news:

"He’s a Panther," a fan declared.
"Hogs are still there baby!! I know UConn is probably the choice, but you never know." a fan remarked.

Thomas clarified his current focus, he told On3:

"This is not my top group, but these are the schools I’m focused on right now. I’m planning to go through these visits and see where things are. Right now, I’m planning on signing early, maybe committing toward the end of October or November at the latest. I would like to get it done before the season."

Meleek Thomas emphasized the importance of genuine coaching staff, facilities and roster composition in his decision-making process.

"The coaching staff is big with me. I want to feel that you’re not putting on a facade. Coaches are going to tell players whatever it takes to get you there. I’ve heard coaches tell my friends or other players in my class the exact same things they’re telling me. I want to play for a genuine staff," he said.

Pitt Panthers aim high with 2025 star Meleek Thomas in top seven

The Pitt Panthers are making significant strides with Meleek Thomas. Thomas has placed Pitt alongside prestigious programs such as back-to-back national champions, UConn.

Thomas, who previously excelled at Lincoln Park in Midland, PA, led his team to back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA state titles, showcasing dominance in Pennsylvania high school basketball.

Last season, Meleek Thomas posted impressive stats, averaging 22.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.2 steals per game. His shooting percentages were equally remarkable, with 57% from the field, 38% from 3-point range and 78% from the free-throw line.

His partnership with Brandin Cummings, a Pitt class of 2024 recruit, formed one of the best duos in the state. Thomas made an official visit to Pitt in March, strengthening his bond with coach Jeff Capel and assistant coach Jason Capel. He also attended multiple games throughout the season.

"They’re on me heavy, still," Thomas said. "They’re pushing the hometown kid and letting me know that I can do everything I want from home. They’re contacting me every day, letting me know they are still here."

In June, Meleek Thomas also visited UConn and Arkansas. Besides his top seven, he has received offers from Illinois, Ole Miss, Georgia, Rutgers, Providence, Penn State, Duke, Tennessee, Xavier, Villanova and Indiana.
