Tarris Bouie, a four-star junior prospect, led the Julius L. Chambers High School Cougars to a close championship victory against G-Town during the HoopState League fall championships gold final on Sunday.
The HoopState Fall League championships are held just before the high school basketball season begins. This time around, the matchups were organized at Rise Indoor Sports in Bermuda Run, North Carolina, from Sept. 14 to Oct. 6.
"SLAM HS Hoops" on X shared a collage of Bouie's play in the gold final.
During the gold championships game, Tarris Bouie led the Cougars with 28 points in their 85-83 win over G-Town. He was helped by teammate and three-star prospect, Markus Kerr, who added 25 points to the Cougars' tally. However, G-Town kept things close, even leading by double digits during the second half.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is currently ranked by On3 as the No. 93 player overall. He averaged 14.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 stocks per game as a sophomore last year. He recently spoke to On3 about how he plays.
“I’m a three-level scorer. I rebound, I defend, and try to get my teammates open," Bouie said. "Really, I try to do anything that helps my team win. I’m getting stronger and I can see that I am jumping higher now, playing more athletic."
Tarris Bouie talks about getting offers from colleges
Several collegiate teams have already shown interest in recruiting Bouie, including Charlotte, High Point, Wake Forest, Mount St. Mary's, College of Charleston, Radford, Alabama and Georgetown.
Tarris Bouie has said he wants a school that "is going to let me play my game."
“I want to see the play style and how I fit in with what they do," Bouie said. "My relationship with the coach will be big too. I want to play for someone that I trust has my best interest.”
The Charlotte, North Carolina, native did admit he has already been to Wake Forest and spoke with the team's coach, Steve Forbes.
