Dabo Swinney's Clemson Tigers do not seem done with recruiting the 2025 class, with four-star safety Jordan Young pledging his commitment to the Tigers. Young disclosed his commitment in a dramatic and emotional announcement witnessed by his parents and captured on live stream.

He became the 14th commit in Swinney's 2025 recruiting class which On3 ranks No. 16 in the country.

Young’s commitment is also coming just days after Clemson flipped three-star offensive lineman Gavin Blanchard from UCF.

The Tigers had earlier lost four-star cornerback Graceson Littleton who withdrew his commitment from Clemson after his initially commiting to the program in June.

Who is Dabo Swinney's Clemson's new commit Jordan Young?

Jordan Young is a 6 feet, 180 pounds safety from Monroe High School in Monroe, North Carolina. The latest Clemson commit is the No. 14 safety in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which ranks him No. 186 nationally.

However, perhaps the greatest testament to his talent are the words of his high school coach Johnny Sowell, who described him as a special talent. Sowell said:

“There's nothing you can say negative about him. When coaches come in, the first thing they say, ‘Can he do this, can he do that,’ and I say everything checks out. I've been coaching for nearly 40 years, and we've had some great players come through here. We still have one playing in the NFL in Jamison Crowder. Jordan has a chance to be one of the best to ever play here. He’s a special talent who works hard.”

Jordan Young joins four-star safety Tae Harris as Swinney's second safety recruit for the 2025 class. The North Carolina native looked set to commit to his home state school North Carolina State before his birthday on Oct. 12.

However, his latest visit to Clemson on Oct. 19 must have convinced him about the Tigers and Dabo Swinney's project. The high school senior said in an interview that he started to drift from NC State towards Clemson around September. He said:

“Things started to shift away from State in September, then over time, I saw the better opportunities at Clemson.”

He was in the stands to watch Clemson take on NC State on Sept. 21, and what he saw in the game persuaded him to take his time. In the end, he made his decision, convinced that “Clemson is truly a family,” where he can have top quality coaching.
