The Border League continued in Las Vegas, Nevada, with Day 2 on Saturday, Oct. 19. Defending champions Montverde Academy, also called the Florida Eagles, got away with a win, thanks to their combo of five-star forward Caleb Gaskins and Indiana commit Trent Sisley.
The pair combined for 39 points during the Florida Eagles' 85-79 win over The Vale. Sisley had 17 points and nine rebounds, while Gaskins led the team with 22 points and five rebounds.
Caleb Gaskins, the No. 13 ranked prospect from the Class of 2026, showed he could score both on the paint and from the outside. The 6-foot-7 power forward also showcased his passing during the game. Several schools have already sent him their offers, including Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, Georgia and Maryland.
Meanwhile, Trent Sisley is a four-star power forward, ranked No. 70 overall for the Class of 2025. He has shown improvement in the strength department and has hit important jumpers during the game.
The Border League game was a close one, with the reigning champions having to work hard and dig deep for the victory. The Vale were headed by five-star guard Brayden Burries, whose play against the Florida Eagles was regarded by 247Sports as "one of the most impressive singular efforts in the history of the event."
Burries, the No. 9 recruit from the Class of 2025, had many of the college coaches scrambling during his performance, even though it was a losing effort.
Montverde Academy still looking strong during the Border League, even without Cooper Flagg
Montverde Academy has much to prove after their biggest star, new Duke power forward and probable 2025 NBA No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg, graduated. However, with rising stars such as Caleb Gaskins and fellow five-star Kayden Allen, the team has been undefeated in the tournament so far.
The team also hosts a talented roster full of four-stars, including Sisley, Creighton commit Hudson Greer, Villanova commit Dante Allen, and their latest addition, LSU commit Mazi Mosley.
Their next Border League opponent will be Texas-based Dynamic Prep, which defeated The Vale 68-33. Jacobe Coleman and Leroy Kelly, two three-star prospects, lead the team's backcourt.
