Friday's win against Heritage Christian was business as usual for the Braves, as they have now recorded their 13th victory of the season. While the team has been incredibly brilliant all around, a huge chunk of the credit for this impressive record should go to their dynamic duo — Five-star prospect Christian Collins and Havard commit Elzie Harrington.
The two athletes have formed a formidable duo for the Braves this season, leading them to an impressive 13-0 record.
Popular Instagram basketball page @ballislife shared a post on Friday to highlight the duo's impressive performance, particularly in their most recent win against Heritage Christian. The game, which was also played on Friday, ended 52-43, and the duo delivered a combined 36 points of the 52 points St John Bosco scored, practically carrying them to victory.
The game, which also turned out to be Heritage Christian's first loss this season, started with a two-point field goal from 6-foot-8 Christian Collins, followed by four more points scored by teammates Chris Komin and Elzie Harrington before the Warriors eventually responded with a three-pointer from 6-foot point guard Freddie Crawford. By the end of the first quarter, the Warriors could only add four more points, as it ended with a 16-7 scoreline.
The game was closely contested in the second quarter, as both teams ended up scoring 12 points each. Notably, Heritage Christian started the quarter on a strong note, scoring ten consecutive points after the St. John Bosco's initial two. However, with the Braves scoring runs in the later part of the quarter, they managed to catch up and maintain their lead.
Heritage Christian, however, went on to win the third quarter with an 18-14 scoreline. Although this reduced the deficit by four points, St. John Bosco went on to re-add that four-point lead in the fourth quarter to win the game comfortably.
5-star prospect Christian Collins ended the game with an impressive 15 points, while he scored 21, the highest in the game. On the other end of the court, Heritage Christian's Tae Simmons also had a good game, scoring an impressive 18 points.
Unbeaten Braves put an end to Heritage Christian's 13-game winning streak
The game between St. John Bosco and Heritage Christian was a clash between two highly rated unbeaten teams. St. John Bosco had won all the 12 games they've played leading up to this game, while Heritage Christian had also won all 13 games played this season before the game.
With the loss against St John Bosco, the Warriors ' 13-match winning streak has now come to an end. Unfortunately, they also lost the next match, which took place the following day against Redondo Union. With two consecutive losses, they're currently down with a 13-2 record this season. Hopefully, they'd get back on their feet in their final game of the year against Clovis North on Monday.
St. John Bosco, on the other hand, continued its winning streak after adding another victory against La Mirada on Saturday. With a 14-0 record this season, they'll be hoping to close out this year with a win against the Roosevelt Mustangs on Monday.
