Baylor’s latest commit, Tounde Yessoufou, took the announcement of his commitment to the Bears to another level. The five-star small forward posted an Instagram reel on Wednesday, sending a heart-warming appreciation to his family, coaches and supporters.

Yessoufou is the No. 3 small forward nationally according to the 247Sports Composite. He also ranks No. 15 overall nationally. The 6-foot-6, 210-pounder is from St. Joseph High School in Santa Maria, California. The teenager moved to the US from Benin ahead of his high school education.

Yessoufou had previously expressed how he felt on his visit to Baylor on a YouTube live stream with 247Sports.

“When I went on my visit, (Baylor) felt like a brotherhood immediately," Yessoufou said. "I felt like something was right and it was home.”

It had come down to three choices for Yessoufou out of the 14 offers he got. His final three choices were Arizona State, Baylor and USC. He visited Baylor on Aug. 30 after previous visits to Arizona on Jun. 16 and USC on Jun. 21. His most recent visit was to Washington on Sept. 22, following his visit to Arizona State on Sept. 6.

A look at Tounde Yessoufou’s high school career

Analysts have described Tounde Yessoufou's style as having a mature firmness and yet a deft, almost delicate touch. He has a strong athletic presence on the court, which he balances with his soft touch and fluid movement with the ball.

Yessoufou had a memorable high school debut where he scored 20 points against Pioneer Valley and scored a backboard-breaking dunk in the third quarter. He was named the tournament MVP in the Alaska Airlines Classic, which he helped St. Joseph win in Jan. 2022. St. Joseph beat East Anchorage in the title game, ending their 35-game winning streak. Yessoufou recorded 21 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in the game.

He averaged 26.4 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 2.1 steals per game in his freshman season. As a sophomore, he increased his average to 27.8 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 2.9 assists and 3.7 spg.

There were apparent improvements in his gameplay, ultimately earning a place in the top 20 ranking of his class. With huge room for improvement, Tounde Yessoufou still has a season more of high school basketball before he enrolls at Baylor.
