Five-star point guard Brandon McCoy Jr. from St. John Bosco was one of the many strong talents who impressed college coaches over last weekend's Border League games. The No. 1 ranked overall by 247Sports Composite was playing for The Tribe during the three-day event in Las Vegas, Nevada, and he led the team to a 3-0 outing.
Sports Center Next posted a mixtape of McCoy's Border League performance, showcasing that the point guard is not only a deadly shooter from behind the arc but can also drive to the rim and score.
Brandon McCoy Jr. and The Tribe kicked off their Las Vegas campaign with a win over OTE Academy, comprised of players from Overtime Elite, including 5-star guard Meleek Thomas. It was a close one, but McCoy and the rest of the team powered through, with the final score reading 72-69.
Their next opponent was Wasatch Academy, which The Tribe handily defeated 67-51. This was Brandon McCoy Jr.'s best game during the weekend, scoring 24 points as he got things done on both the defensive and offensive ends.
His team's Las Vegas trip ended unbeaten, with a nerve-racking 52-51 thriller win against AZ Compass, a team led by another five-star in Miikka Muurinen (No. 6 ranked recruit in the class of 2026).
The 6-foot-1 point guard impressed many by attempting difficult shots during the game, including a step-back 3-pointer with a hand on his face.
