LeBron James is known for his iconic chase-down block which has won him so many important games, as well as a few championships. His son, Bryce James, who many scouts have said is the closest to his father in terms of playstyle, has already copied that move. He used it during a game against the St. Francis Golden Knights last Friday.
The feat happened after a St. Francis player picked up a steal and tried to do a fast break. This was when Bryce James channeled his dad and chased him down for that signature block. The move has been tied to his father, as he is known to use his athleticism to chase down opponents and block them from behind.
There have been plenty of NBA stars who have been at the receiving end of that LeBron chase-down block, including Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo. The most important instance of that chase-down block was LeBron's championship-winning block against Andre Igoudala.
The Sierra Canyon bench was seen celebrating Bryce's block wildly, including Gavin Hightower, who was seen cheering his own unique way. Bryce James himself reacted to the bench reacting to him.
The Sierra Canyon Trailblazers won that game with a final score of 77-48. After that big win, Bryce James and co. now has a record of 18 wins and three losses and is now in second place in Southern California's Mission League.
Bryce is ranked at three stars and is considered the No. 257 overall by 247Sports. He is also the No. 47 shooting guard in the Class of 2025 and the No. 30 player in California. He has already committed to Arizona.
Bryce James chose Arizona because of the coach's 'patience' in developing players
On New Year's Day, Bryce James shocked many as he chose Arizona over what many had previously predicted his choice would be, which is Ohio State.
However, according to 247Sports' Jason Scheer, the reason may be Wildcats coach Tommy Lloyd, who impressed Bryce during his unofficial visit to the school late last year.
"One of the main reasons why James was drawn to Arizona is Tommy Lloyd's ability to develop players and his patience with that process," said Scheer.
While Bryce is a good recruit for Arizona, he may not be their top prize, as the school is still trying to recruit five-stars Koa Peat and Brayden Burries. They are also after another NBA son in Alijah Arenas, an Arizona legacy and son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas.
