Caitlin Clark's boyfriend Connor McCaffery's brother, Jack McCaffery, is generating significant buzz in the high school hoops circuit. Jack, son of Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery, delivered a standout performance at the Midwest Hoops Showcase, earning praise as one of the affair’s best young talents.

The 6-foot-5 guard from Iowa City showcased exceptional ball-handling, 3-point shooting, and explosive athleticism. Scroll right on the post below to see his electrifying play:

McCaffery’s basketball prowess is no surprise given his family background. His father, Fran, has led the Iowa Hawkeyes for 14 seasons, and his older brother, Connor, has embarked on a coaching career in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers.

Despite the family's ties to the University of Iowa, Jack McCaffery has chosen a different path. Reflecting on his decision, Jack told reporters in February:

“It was really hard for my brothers, and it was really hard for my mom (Margaret) ... The fans, they were especially tough on Connor, because a lot of people don’t understand how he affects a basketball game.
“I just wanted to try something different ... Blaze my own path, do something different than my brothers did. I really like the (recruiting) process that’s happening right now, the coaches that are recruiting me.” [H/T Rivals]

Jack McCaffery's development over the past year

While a sophomore at Iowa City West High School, Jack McCaffery reached averages of 9.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, with shooting percentages of 44% from the field and 35% from beyond the arc.

He is ranked as the No. 113 overall prospect in the 2025 class, the No. 21 power forward and holds the title of being the best recruit in Iowa. Jack’s recent physical development has been significant. He has gained weight and strength over the past year, now weighing 218 pounds, which has positively impacted his game.

“Last season, teams were just way too physical (for me), and I couldn’t do anything,” McCaffery said. “I feel definitely like that’s the biggest thing. I feel like I’m jumping better, a lot better. I’ve really worked on my athleticism.
"I feel like I can create my shot a lot better than a year ago. So I just feel like all those things put together are going to help me be a lot better player." [H/T Rivals]

McCaffery is considering several schools, with Butler, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech catching his eye. He expressed particular enthusiasm for Butler, saying:

"I really love Butler. I’ve visited it twice... I love Coach (Thad) Matta, he’s one of my favorite people."

Jack McCaffery’s decision on his college destination will likely come after official visits in the fall, following a thorough evaluation over the spring and summer.
