Carlos Boozer's sons Cayden and Cameron Boozer are off to a perfect start at home. They helped Christopher Columbus High School beat Mikel Brown Jr.'s DME Academy 81-55 in their basketball clash on Tuesday.
Both Boozer brothers featured as Columbus High dominated to secure a blowout win. The Explorers got off to a perfect start, winning the first quarter 18-10, before winning the second, third and fourth quarters too.
The win improved Columbus’ record to 3-1, while DME Academy is now 8-4 this season. Despite the loss, star man Mikel Brown Jr. dropped 28 points, and the five-star point guard is averaging 29.6 points per game this campaign.
Columbus’ win follows an 88-54 blowout victory over Wheeler High School (Ga.) at the Holiday Hoopsgiving prep showcase last Saturday. The Boozer brothers were the stars of that game, with Cameron posting 24 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists in the contest, while Cayden chipped in 19 points.
Cayden and Cameron Boozer are following in Carlos Boozer’s footsteps
Cayden and Cameron Boozer’s performances may not come as a surprise as they have the basketball genes of their father Carlos Boozer. Both Cameron and Cayden have committed to Duke, the alma mater of their father, who played three seasons for the Blue Devils under former coach Mike Krzyzewski (1999-2002), scoring more than 1,500 points.
Cameron Boozer is a 6-foot-3 point guard and the No. 2-ranked prospect in ESPN’s overall rankings for the class of 2025. The five-star recruit showed his ability even before he moved to high school but it was his performances at Christopher Columbus High School that put him on the national map.
In his freshman year, Cameron Boozer averaged 20.7 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. He continued in the same vein in his sophomore year, averaging 21.1 points per game, 11.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
The 2022-2023 season remains the best year of Cameron’s career so far, as he averaged 22.2 points, 11.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. His performance earned him Gatorade's National Boys Basketball Player of the Year, joining the likes of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.
As for Cayden Boozer, he may not be on quite the same level as Cameron, but he is still a top player. Ranked No 17 in ESPN’s overall ranking of the class of 2025, Cayden Boozer has been among the best passers in his class for the past couple of seasons, leading the Nike EYBL circuit last spring with 6.5 assists per game.
Boozer also averaged 6.9 assists at the Nike Peach Jam over the summer, including 11 in a semifinal win over Team Takeover.
