With Cooper Flagg now off to college, his twin brother Ace Flagg is set to make a name for himself and get out of his brother's looming shadow. The three-star power forward showed what he could do during a game with his new squad, Greensboro Day School, in North Carolina.
Ace Flagg used to play with his brother at Montverde Academy in Florida and was part of the Eagles' undefeated championship run. However, after his brother graduated and went to Duke, he transferred to Greensboro Day for his senior year. He spent two seasons at Montverde Academy before moving to North Carolina.
This was the first time Ace played with his new high school. He had two matches at the Rise Indoor Sports Arena against West Charlotte and Berean Baptist. These were also his first games since officially committing to Maine.
Ace Flagg is ranked at No. 272 nationally and the No. 55 power forward by 247Sports. He is also the No. 20 player in North Carolina for the class of 2025. Before committing to Maine, the three-star player also had West Virginia and George Washington University in his final three.
Before moving to Florida with his brother to play for Montverde Academy, Ace Flagg also played for his brother's former EYBL squad, Maine United. He treats going to Maine for college as a homecoming, having grown up in the state.
Ace Flagg's school of choice will open college season vs. twin brother Cooper Flagg's team, the Duke Blue Devils
While his twin brother is already in college and about to play official NCAA season games, Ace is about to open his senior high school season with Greensborough Day. Interestingly, Ace's college of choice will be opening its 2024-2025 season against Cooper's new team.
The Maine Black Bears will be out on the road at Durham, North Carolina on November 4 to face Cooper Flagg and the Duke Blue Devils. This will be the season opener for both teams.
As for Ace Flagg, his high school is located just an hour from Duke's home stadium. He had initially tried to also get to Duke, but the school expressed no interest in him.
Cooper was the clear No. 1 for the class of 2024, leading the Montverde Academy Eagles to that undefeated championship season for 2023-2024. However, he is seen as a one-and-done for the Blue Devils, leaving for the NBA in 2025 and possibly being the No. 1 draft pick for that year.
