St. Xavier High School senior quarterback Chase Herbstreit stunned football fans on Saturday with his jaw-dropping performance on the very first play of the game against Centerville High School. Herbstreit completed an 80-yard touchdown run, setting the tone for the Bombers' commanding 34-10 victory.
The highlight play went viral, showcasing Herbstreit’s agility and ability to rise to the occasion under pressure.
This game was special as Chase’s father, ESPN analyst and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit once played for Centerville. Kirk was honored during the game.
Chase had amassed 567 passing yards and six touchdowns in four games before the game, along with an impressive 225 rushing yards and four additional scores. The Bombers entered the contest with momentum, winning three straight games after a season-opening loss to Lakota West.
Their victories over Indianapolis Cathedral, Withrow and Centerville further solidified their strong season performance.
