Gateway Charter power forward Patrick Johnson won the dunk contest at this year’s City of Palm Classic on Wednesday, Dec 20, 2024. The contest, which had the likes of Kiyan Anthony, Bryce James, and Cameron Boozer in attendance, saw Johnson win the whole thing after registering combined scores of 91 out of 100 on his first two slams and a combined score of 88 out of 100 in the championship round.
In a video posted on Slam High School's IG page, Johnson attempted a 180-windmill slam from the side for his first two dunks before going for the down a tomahawk dunk. In the Championship round, the 6-foot-8 power forward made a double-clutch reverse slam before going for a between-the-legs slam to seal the victory.
The Gateway Charter player was not the only popular winner in this year’s tournament. Cameron Boozer and Cayden Boozer also emerged victorious as they helped Christopher Columbus High School win the championship.
Columbus beat Montverde Academy in a 59-57 to win their first title in the competition's history. Following Columbus’ win, Boozer was named the co-MVP of the tournament along with Darius Acuff Jr, who had faced the Boozer brothers in the semifinals.
In the semifinal, Cameron and Cayden combined for 38 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, with the former dropping a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double while the latter added 16 points.
What next for the Boozer brothers?
With the City of Palms Classic over, the Boozer Brothers will take a Christmas break on December 25th and 26th, 2024, before returning to action on Friday at the Jordan Brand Holiday Classic.
The Boozer Brothers and Columbus will take on the Bullis, Potomac, Maryland, on Friday before facing Long Island Lutheran on Saturday. They round up their schedule with a clash against Link Academy.
It has been a good season for the Boozer brothers and Columbus as they are 12-1 and currently the No. 1 ranked high school in the country, as per MAX Preps. They will hope to continue their impressive form ahead of college basketball.
The brothers have already committed to Duke for college basketball, following in the footsteps of their father, Carlos Boozer.
