Cam Newton, the former Carolina Panthers quarterback, made a notable appearance at a high-stakes high school football clash between Carrollton High School and A.H. Parker High School on September 20, 2024. Broadcast live on ESPN2, the game attracted significant attention, with Newton being seen alongside USC Trojans head coach, Lincoln Riley.

Newton, the 2011 NFL draft's first-overall pick, is best known for his electric playstyle. His 2015 season with the Panthers remains a career highlight, where he led them to a 15-1 record, earned NFL MVP honors, and guided the team to the Super Bowl.

The game between the Carrollton Trojans, ranked No. 8, and the A.H. Parker Thundering Herd from Alabama was a pivotal game for Carrollton’s star quarterback, Julian Lewis. Committed to USC, the five-star QB has already demonstrated elite talent this season, with over 1,200 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and only two interceptions.

In a standout performance earlier in the season, Lewis threw for six touchdowns on 12 completions against Lithia Springs. With Coach Riley present at the game, Lewis faced heightened expectations.

Meanwhile, Parker High School showcased defensive talent. Na’eem Offord, a five-star cornerback, is committed to Ohio State, and Jourdin Crawford, a four-star defensive lineman, is headed to Auburn. The game finished 48-26 to Carrolton.

In the matchup between Carrollton (Georgia) and A.H. Parker (Alabama), Na’eem Offord intercepted a pass from Carrollton’s five-star quarterback Julian Lewis during a scoreless first quarter.

Shortly after the interception, he scooped up a fumble from a disrupted trick play and returned it for a touchdown, providing Parker with a crucial score. Offord is currently rated as the No. 6 overall prospect and the No. 2 cornerback in the nation.

While Offord has been committed to Ohio State since February, his recruitment remains competitive. In a recent interview with Rivals, he mentioned a “three-team race” between Auburn, Oregon, and Ohio State.

Parker began its season with a commanding 41-12 victory over No. 1 Ramsay and is currently ranked No. 2 in Class 6A. Meanwhile, Carrollton started strong at 2-0, with wins over Woodward Academy and Columbia.

The Thundering Herd also features top recruits like defensive linemen Jourdin Crawford and Vodney Cleveland, and defensive back Timothy Merritt.
