Mike Norvell, the coach of Florida State University was in attendance to watch four-star receiver and FSU commit CJ Wiley in action on Friday. The Seminoles' head coach arrived in Gainesville for their matchup against Milton in a helicopter.
Rivals shared the video of Norvell arriving in Gainesville via X. The coach landed in a yellow helicopter on Friday to watch the all-important clash between two of the best teams in high school football.
Miami Hurricanes' offensive coordinator, Shannon Dawson was also in attendance to watch the game.
Norvell was in Gainesville to watch Wiley, who announced his commitment to the FSU Seminoles on June 25 this year. He chose Florida State over other top programs such as Georgia, Auburn, LSU, and Alabama. The 6-foot-3.75 athlete was in Seminoles' gear during the pre-game warmups on Friday.
The Seminoles have had a terrible start to the season, winning just one of their six games so far. Attracting top high school talent will be difficult after a poor start, which is why Mike Norvell's side needs to hold onto Wiley's commitment.
The receiver is ranked no.103 nationally and is the 13th-best wide receiver in the country, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the 12th-best overall recruit from the state of Georgia.
CJ Wiley was in Athens to visit Georgia for their game against Auburn
The Georgia Bulldogs are still in play to sign four-star in-state prospect CJ Wiley despite his commitment to the Florida State Seminoles. The receiver was in Athens to watch the Bulldogs take on the Auburn Tigers on October 6.
Georgia's wide receivers coach, James Coley, told Wiley that the Bulldogs need him in Athens and that he will be an impactful player almost immediately.
"He says that there is no need for me to leave the state and that they need me here," CJ Wiley said, as per On3. "Coach Coley tells me that I can come there and make an impact early."
According to On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, Georgia has a massive 82.3% chance of flipping Wiley's commitment to the FSU. Auburn and LSU also have an outside shot of signing the talented receiver, but the Bulldogs remain the firm favorites to land the four-star prospect.
Georgia's class of 2025 ranks no.5 in the nation, as per 247Sports. They have landed 22 commitments from some of the best high school players in the country and have extended offers to 292 athletes from the class.
