Gilbert Arenas was sitting courtside when his son Alijah Arenas lit up the court with an incredible performance on Saturday. Alijah broke the Division IV record with 44 points (17/32 from the field) as he made his presence felt in Chatsworth High's inaugural game of the season.

After Chatsworth High lost the game 74-66 at Golden 1 Center, he was at Swish Cultures' open gym practice along with some NBA players where Arenas had another dazzling display.

The Class of 2026 shooting guard has offers from several programs like UCLA, Fresno State, California, UTEP and Nevada among others. He is a five-star recruit according to 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals; and a four-star recruit according to On3.com. He is also No. 4 in the 2026 ESPN 60 Recruiting Database just below Tyran Stokes, Brandon McCoy and Caleb Holt.

Alijah Arenas talked about Chatsworth's loss despite his record-breaking performance in the postgame conference:

"I am very grateful. I am very blessed to be in this situation. I felt good knowing that I did something leaving," said Arenas. I wish I could have left here with the win. I could have left here knowing I could have done that for my team. And I feel like we really played hard and gave it all."

Alijah Arenas worked out with Kevin Durant and other NBA stars

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant has already started practicing for the upcoming season. In a workout session hosted by Proactive Sports Performance in California, Alijah Arenas went against him in a game of one-on-one. Arenas also faced 2024 NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner Naz Reid and Golden State Warriors forward Moses Moody.

Arenas was able to convert a basket against all of them as the other players counted the shot clock from five seconds.

Alijah Arenas played 27 games in the 2022-23 season. He averaged 30.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per contest. He improved his numbers in the 2023-24 season as he appeared in 35 games and averaged 33.0 ppg, 8.6 rpg and 2.9 apg.

Arenas already has some impressive performances and has received interest from various programs. His state rank in 2022 as a freshman was 627 and moved up to 161 in 2023.
