Five-star recruit Darryn Peterson jumped up a spot to No. 2 in 247Sports' Class of 2025 rankings. His recent performance for Prolific Prep solidified his position even further.
On Sunday, The Grind Session’s Instagram handle shared a post with Peterson as the cover photo. The following slide displayed his skills as he effortlessly put in 3-pointers, dribbled past defenders and scored against Dream City Christian.

On Saturday, Prolific Prep of Napa Christian (Napa, CA) won a neutral conference game 69-52 against Dream City Christian (Glendale, AZ).
Darryn Peterson led his team with 27 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals. The victory improved Prolific Prep’s record to 20-4 overall, while Dream City Christian is now at 0-7. Peterson’s team has won 12 out of 13 of their last games. They stand third among California teams, according to MaxPreps. On the other hand, Dream City Christian is ranked 51st in Arizona.
Last year, in August, Peterson transferred from Huntington Prep in West Virginia to Prolific Prep and has improved the team’s rankings and has himself higher in the individual rankings.
Darryn Peterson Overtakes Cameron Boozer in 247Sports Rankings
The 247Sports rankings of high school players are causing a buzz among fans. Darryn Peterson, previously No. 3, and NBA icon Carlos Boozer’s son Cameron Boozer, who was No. 2, have switched places.
Both Cameron and Darryn gave stellar performances for their teams at the 2025 Hoophall Classic.
Last Monday, even though Prolific Prep lost 61-57 to Highland School (VA), Kansas fans were overjoyed with Darryn Peterson’s performance. He scored 31 points along with nine rebounds and four assists. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is signed with Kansas and will pursue basketball at the collegiate level with the Jayhawks.
Meanwhile, Cameron Boozer has been spectacular for Columbus and has led the team to the top of the rankings. He was named MVP in two consecutive matches against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Perry. The 6-foot-9 senior also excelled against Montverde last Friday. He scored 25 points and 15 rebounds along with six assists. His contribution helped Columbus attain a 79-59 victory.
Regardless of the rankings, both players are among the top emerging talents who are significant prospects for the NBA draft.
