Laura Govan, former reality star and ex-fiancée of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, described her daughter Hamiley Arenas as a "miracle baby" in an Instagram post while celebrating her birthday. And it seems Arenas is living up to every bit of that hype.
On Wednesday, Govan shared an Instagram story showcasing Arenas' skills on the basketball court. The video captured the 15-year-old combo guard dominating in the paint and can be seen showcasing elite dribbling as she outmaneuvered defenders and finished with a clean layup.
"Watch and learn," Govan wrote on Instagram.
Arenas and Notre Dame Knights were up against the formidable Sierra Canyon Varsity, led by the No. 1 ranked 2026 prospect, Jerzy Robinson. Despite a streak of brilliance from Arenas, the Knights lost with a huge margin of 97-48 to the Trail Blazers.
Irrespective of the loss, Arenas is having a breakout season so far. Only a day earlier, she dropped a jaw-dropping 30 points against Newbury Park, leading Notre Dame to a commanding 72-48 victory. Earlier this month, Arenas scored 28 points in a loss to Dos Pueblos and another 28 points in a tough 54-48 defeat to Louisville.
Arenas is averaging 22.8 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 3.2 steals. These numbers have caught the attention of many, including West Coast Premier Girls Nike EYBL and Team WhyNot Premier coach Maria Mesa, who couldn’t help but shower Hamiley with praise on her Instagram story:
"Lol, I knew my girl was killing it, but this is a whole other kind of BEAST MODE, leading every category!!! I see you, @hamileyarenas0."
Arenas even kickstarted her season with style. In her Notre Dame debut, the freshman combo guard posted an impressive double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds in a 75-70 loss to Campbell while her father watched from the sidelines.
Laura Govan thoroughly impressed with her daughter's performance
The Notre Dame Knights ended their four-game losing streak thanks to Hamiley Arenas's 30-point blitz, and Laura Govan couldn’t hide her pride. The proud mother shared a string of stories, all highlighting the skills of her daughter.
Posting the highlights of the game on Instagram, she wrote:
"Another 30 pieces @hamileyarenas.”
The Knights have a 12-8 win-loss record and are slated to lock horns with the Louisville Royals on Thursday.
