Mikel Brown Jr., a 5-star point guard from the class of 2025, is turning heads both on and off the court. On Saturday, he was nominated for the 5-on-5 Male Athlete of the Year Award alongside NBA legends LeBron James and Stephen Curry. Last week, he also made his City of Palms Classic debut against Dynamic Prep. Brown played two games in the tournament and bagged 53 points to his name.
Slam_hs's Instagram handle posted some of his highlights from the tournament. In the clips, the DME Academy guard dodged defenders for fun. He sneaked through multiple players to score a beautiful bucket. His floor spacing and dribbling left the defenders clueless, and his shooting couldn't be helped either.
"5⭐️ PG Mikel Brown dropped 53 points in two games at City of Palms this week 🌴 What do you think about his game⁉️ @mikel_brownjr @cityofpalmsclassic @shotbysep," the caption read.
In his first game, Mikel Brown Jr. charted 25 points and seven rebounds. But his efforts went in vain, as Jaden Toomb's 23 points and seven rebounds helped Dynamic Prep take the victory home with a scoreline of 78-67. But the Orlando native turned the tides in the next game.
Mikel led his side to a commendable win over Dream City Christian in the 3rd Place Signature Series Game. He grabbed 28 points, four assists and three rebounds in DME Academy's 76-61 win over Dream City.
