During the offseason, NBA players seldom practice in open runs. Alijah Arenas was joined by Indiana Pacers' star Bennedict Mathurin in a similar open run and the competition got intense.
While Arenas gave Mathurin a tough fight, the NBA star had the upper hand. To push Arenas to his limit, Mathurin started trash-talking him mid-game, calling him "scared." Popular social media handle Swish Cultures recorded the open run and posted some highlights on Instagram.
While the duo were going at it, they showed their two-way abilities after scoring and locking down each other. At the beginning of the video, Mathurin is heard trash-talking the 17-year-old to push him:
"Scary a**. He f**king scared… Get the f**k out the way."

In Chatsworth High's inaugural game of the season, Arenas broke the Division IV record with 44 points, with his father Gilbert Arenas sitting on the sidelines. However, Chatsworth lost that game 74-66 at the Golden 1 Center.
"I am very grateful. I am very blessed to be in this situation. I felt good knowing that I did something leaving," said Arenas after the game. "I wish I could have left here with the win. I could have left here knowing I could have done that for my team. And I feel like we really played hard and gave it all."
Alijah Arenas shows off his skills in 1v1 action against NBA stars
In an offseason workout session hosted by Proactive Sports Performance in California, Alijah Arenas joined Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant, 2024 NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner Naz Reid and Golden State Warriors forward Moses Moody.
The players went 1v1 and Arenas converted all the baskets against the NBA stars within five seconds.
Arenas, a high school senior, is one of the best prospects in the Class of 2026.
