Aaliyah Chavez, the five-star girls' basketball star, has started her 2025 on the right note. On Friday, Chavez's Monterey High School faced Palo Duro and the star hooper helped Monterey to an 89-37 victory while putting up a stat line of 36 points, 13 rebounds, six steals, five assists and one block.

“At this point Aaliyah might get to 5,000 career," the post was captioned.
The game brought her closer to a significant milestone in her career. Chavez now has a total of 4,339 career points. With that, she has moved to eighth place in the National Federation of High School Associations' (NFHS) all-time scoring list.
After her game on Thursday, Chavez leapfrogged Louisiana’s Katie Antony who scored 4,319 points and Patricia Walker-Manuel who had 4,327 points in her high school career. Among the Texas players, the point guard stands second only to Adrian McGowen, who holds the record with 5,424 points.
What Does the Future Hold for Aaliyah Chavez?
Aaliyah Chavez has been dominant throughout her high school career. She is averaging 35.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 3.9 steals this season. In the current season, the PG has already scored 994 points in 28 games. She is set to have her fourth season in which she reaches the 1000-point mark. She scored 1,001 as a freshman, 1,020 as a sophomore, and 1,324 points as a junior.
She has built impressive high school career averages of 31.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 3.1 steals. Her talent and scoring ability continue to captivate basketball fans and college coaches. Chavez has yet to make her commitment decision, but On3 predicts that the two front runners to sign her are the UCLA Bruins and the Oklahoma Sooners.
