Oakland Soldiers' AJ Dybantsa, the consensus top recruit in the class of 2024, showcased his remarkable talents at the Peach Jam against Nightrydas Elite. The American basketball player, who hails from Montverde Academy and attends Utah Prep, displayed his full offensive repertoire.

Dybantsa exhibited his shooting prowess by effortlessly sinking perimeter shots. The versatile wing averaged 23.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists during the tournament.

“I want to be challenged and compete against the best talent,” Dybantsa shared with Yahoo Sports. “That’s why we’re all here, to compete on the biggest stage of the summer. I don’t really pay attention to who’s here and watching. We all know college coaches and NBA scouts are here, but I’m just here to lock in and help my team win.”

At Peach Jam, Dybantsa scored 32 points on 10-20 shooting against Paul George Elite and racked up 31 points, eight rebounds and three blocks against Boo Williams. With 32 scholarship offers, Dybantsa is among the most sought-after recruits in the nation.

According to On3’s Jamie Shaw:

“AJ Dybantsa is a lengthy and wiry 6-foot-7, maybe 6-foot-8 wing. He has a slippery and smooth handle in the open floor that allows him to attack the basket downhill. With a 2007 birthday, he has the foundation of all the tools; it will simply be about continuing to get stronger and developing the vast skill base. He is tracking as one of the top players in his class.”

AJ Dybantsa navigates recruitment with 35+ offers

AJ Dybantsa, the top basketball recruit for the class of 2024, is navigating an overwhelming recruitment process with over 35 offers. He plans to narrow his list to around seven schools by the end of July. Dybantsa is uncertain about which programs he will visit and relies on his father's guidance.

"My dad will probably pick the schools I visit since he has the best interest in me," he shared with On3

When asked which schools are most actively recruiting him, Dybantsa said:

"I don’t talk to coaches, my dad does. So whoever he hears from."

Discussing his recruitment with On3's Joe Tipton, Dybantsa touched on BYU and Kentucky. Regarding BYU, he said,

"The visit was good. That’s when I took my Utah Prep visit. Since I was out there, I just took an unofficial over there. BYU is three hours away from Utah Prep so it’s kind of far but it was good, seeing the campus, the overall view, the gyms and everything."

About Kentucky, Dybantsa mentioned:

"I talked to Mark Pope. I went on a Zoom with him but I got the offer on a call. Went on a Zoom with him, Jason Hart, and they were just talking about what they have in store and hopefully get me on a visit. He was in Istanbul and Turkey for USA Basketball."

Dybantsa previously played for Prolific Prep in California. During his freshman year at Saint Sebastian's School, he averaged 19.1 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 2.9 apg and 2.5 bpg, earning the Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year award.
