Kaleena Smith and the Ontario Christian Lady Knights remained undefeated with a 9-0 record after soundly defeating the No. 15-ranked Windward School Wildcats at home, 81-54, on Friday. The No. 1 ranked recruit from the Class of 2027 dominated on the floor, as shown in a highlight video from Overtime Select.
The five-star point guard had 28 points, four steals and five assists during the game, with defenders struggling to contain her. When she was locked down, she also had no problem finding fellow Ontario Christian "Big 3" member Sydney Douglas for an assist.
Speaking of the other two members of the Ontario Christian "Big 3," they also put up monster performances. Freshman phenom Tatianna Griffin had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds with two steals and three assists.
Meanwhile, freshman center Sydney Douglas had 11 points and eight rebounds against Windward School, showing she can also hit a three.
The nine-game undefeated streak included victories over ranked opponents like Mater Dei on Dec. 7 and Etiwanda on Nov. 23.
Ontario Christian also triumphed against No. 1-ranked senior Aaliyah Chavez and Monterey in dominating fashion on Nov. 30, with the final score being 82-50. They did this with a big three of two freshmen and a sophomore and on the road in Monterey's home state, Texas.
Aaliyah Chavez and the No. 1-ranked team in Texas, Monterey, may be the biggest name in Kaleena Smith and Ontario Christian's schedule this season, and they have already blown past them. However, whether they remain undefeated remains to be seen.
What is next for Kaleena Smith and the Ontario Christian Lady Knights?
After dominating Monterey, Kaleena Smith and the Ontario Christian Lady Knights are already looking unstoppable this year. They still have a few ranked schools on their schedule for the 2024-2025 season and upsets may still happen.
After a Dec. 28 game against unranked Grand Terrace, their next big opponent is undefeated Archbishop Mitty, the No. 2-ranked school in California, whose record is still 3-0 per On3.
The game will happen on Jan. 3 at 7:30 AM. They will then play another game, that same day, at 12 noon, against No. 12-ranked Millenium High School, which has a 3-1 record.
Another opponent that may end the winning streak is Legion Prep Academy, which is seen as the No. 8-ranked team in Texas. Their showdown will take place on January 10.
