The 5-foot-10 point guard then backed up her performance with another five-star display in Monterey’s 77-29 win over the Eastwood Troopers. In that game, Chavez dropped 44 points, including seven 3-pointers from 12 attempts. She also made 17 field goals from 30 attempts.

Aaliyah Chavez’s latest performance once again highlights why she is the top recruit in the Class of 2025. She is averaging 35.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.6 steals per game this season, according to MaxPreps.

In her four seasons in high school, Chavez is averaging 31.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game across 133 games played. For her performance in the 2023-2024 season, Chavez was named the Texas Girls’ Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year. She is known for her 3-point shooting, breaking the high school record for most points in Texas in the 2023-2024 season.

Aaliyah Chavez is also one of the most popular girls' high school basketball players on social media. The Monterey star has over 70,000 followers on Instagram, over 12,000 on X, formerly known as Twitter, and over 18,000 followers on TikTok.

Where will Aaliyah Chavez end up?

Aaliyah Chavez's status as the No. 1 prospect in girls' high school basketball means she is on the radar of many top colleges, hoping to recruit her.

Oklahoma, UCLA, Texas Tech, LSU and Texas are all leading the race for her signature, according to On3. The publication estimates that Oklahoma currently leads in her recruitment, giving the Sooners a 37% chance of signing her ahead of the Bruins at 32.5%. However, Chavez has yet to decide on any program with two Texas schools also in the running for her signature.

Given her strong connections to Texas, it is believed that one of the two in-state schools will eventually sign Chavez.
