Malachi Toney decommits from Miami
Malachi Toney, the four-star wide receiver from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, announced his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes on Aug. 22 last year. However, he decommitted from the program earlier this month as interest from other top schools, most notably Alabama, intensified.
Toney was a 2026 recruit during his time of commitment to the Hurricanes. However, he was reclassified to the 2025 class last month.
The four-star receiver was in Tuscaloosa to watch the Crimson Tide's 41-34 win over the Georgia Bulldogs. The Toney to Alabama rumors have gathered a lot of momentum as he considers his options going forward.
Other schools that have a chance of landing the four-star recruit are Florida State and Oregon, as per On3. Toney's decommitment from the Hurricanes' means that Miami has 22 commits from the class of 2025, as per 247Sports. The Mario Cristobal-led team is ranked No.12 in the country, according to 247Sports' 2025 overall team rankings.
Alabama, meanwhile, is the No.2 ranked team in the country and landed commitments from 20 high profile athletes from the class of 2025. Toney, the four-star receiver from American Heritage High School, could become one of the Crimson Tide's latest commitments.
