Tajh Ariza, the No. 7-ranked recruit in the Class of 2026 and son of the 2009 NBA Champion Trevor Ariza, has been a core player for Westchester Senior High School this season. In Tuesday's match-up against Brentwood, he scored 21 points to lead his team to a 74-72 win.
In a video posted by Home Team Hoops, the small forward received a pass, beat a double team and executed a smooth 360 move to create space, almost fell before recovering and converting from just inside the 3-point line, all the while leaving a Brentwood defender stumbling to the ground.
Watch the clip here:
Westchester had a comfortable 21-point lead after the third quarter, however, Brentwood did not make things easy for Ariza's team, as 6-foot-5 guard Shane Frazier converted four 3-pointers in the final quarter and outscored Westchester 24-6. The Eagles had a chance to win in the final 8.8 seconds after Ariza missed a pair of free throws.
Ranked as a five-star recruit by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports, Ariza is the No. 2-ranked small forward and No. 4 player in California.
In the Nike EYBL E15, Tajh Ariza scored 10.3 points and grabbed 4.6 boards per game. Playing for Team Why Not in the EYBL 17U Circuit, Ariza averaged 5 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 1.7 apg. In the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in July, he averaged 13.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg and 1.8 apg.
Alijah Arenas talks about competing with Tajh Ariza
Two of the best prospects in the Class of 2026, Alijah Arenas and Tajh Ariza, went against each other in November. Arenas High School team, Chatsworth, won 58-56. Their matchup was attended by 3-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas and 3-time NBA Scoring Champ James Harden.
While talking to Jordan Richard of "The Youngins Podcast" on Tuesday, Arenas discussed his competition with Ariza:
"For me personally, I'm really excited. I'm always competing with Tajh. I'm always playing with Tajh, we're always like, we always go back and forth, especially at USA, that's where everybody kind of like, comes together." (0:48)
While Tajh Ariza has one more year of high school before making a decision on his college, Alijah Arenas has reclassified into the Class of 2025.
