Cooper and Ace Flagg shook up the high school basketball scene when they took on Cayden and Cameron Boozer—twin sons of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer—in a headline-grabbing matchup. The stage was the 2023 Nike EYBL Peach Jam, where a sold-out crowd of fans, NBA scouts, and even former NBA star Carmelo Anthony watched as the Flaggs' Maine United pulled off a surprise 73-65 victory over the Boozers' Nightrydas Elite.
The showdown was a rare face-off between the top two Class of 2025 prospects, Cooper Flagg and Cameron Boozer, where both of them were fighting to prove their worth.
The atmosphere in North Augusta, South Carolina, was electric as fans lined up early for the 9 a.m. tip-off which wasn’t the first time these two squads had met. In the previous year’s 15U Peach Jam, Nightrydas Elite had dominated Maine United with a 79-36 victory. But this time, the Flaggs and their team were ready for redemption.
Ace Flagg was the unsung hero of the game, putting up 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. His efficiency stood out, shooting 9-of-13 from the field and sinking his only 3-point attempt.
Ace Flagg’s efforts on both ends of the court were critical; he took multiple charges and consistently disrupted the Nightrydas’ offensive rhythm.
Ace Flagg outshines top prospects Cooper Flagg, Cameron Boozer
In a game that featured Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 prospect in the 2024 class after reclassifying, as well as Cameron Boozer, the No. 1 prospect in 2025, it was Ace Flagg who impressed the most.
Ace led the team in scoring over his brother, whose shooting was slightly off (7-of-18 from the field and just 1-of-6 from 3-point range). However, Cooper still made his presence known across the box score, tallying 21 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Cooper’s defensive skills also shone through as he challenged Boozer at the rim and impacted nearly every possession on the floor.
On the other side, Cameron Boozer, the No. 1 prospect in the same class, fought hard to keep Nightrydas Elite in the game. He matched Cooper’s energy but struggled with efficiency, going 8-of-24 from the field and 2-of-7 from deep. Boozer finished with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks, but his efforts fell short against Cooper and Ace Flagg and a determined Maine United squad.
Landon Clark, another standout for Maine United, contributed 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting and went 5-of-8 from three. His timely shooting provided a crucial edge, helping Maine United cement the upset and improve to 2-0 in pool play, positioning them for a strong run at the tournament’s knockout rounds.
This was only the second loss of the season for Nightrydas Elite and their third over two summers on the EYBL circuit, a testament to how formidable they usually are.
