Servite High School will take on St. John Bosco High School at the SoFi Stadium on October 18. The game is officially known as the Brotherhood Bowl as both teams have partnered with the Los Angeles Rams to give the student-athletes an experience of the stadium's world-class facilities.
Servite's coach Chris Reinert spoke about the game and the experience of leading his young team in one of the best stadiums in the country.
"The situation is, it's a great opportunity," Reinert said in an interview with CIF-SOUTHERN SECTION. "We're chaperoning a unique field trip ... But at a certain point, and this is a challenge ... You gotta find a way to get your kids mentally to lock in at the task at hand and tune out all of the other distraction elements that go along with this."
Both these teams have had good starts to their seasons. Servite won its first six games of the season before dropping its latest game to Mater Dei on October 11. St. John Bosco, on the other hand, holds an unbeaten record through seven games of the season and won their latest game against Santa Margarita.
St. John Bosco's head coach Jason Negro talked about the team's game against Servite at SoFi Stadium
St. John Bosco will bring their unbeaten record to SoFi Stadium on Friday and put it on the line against their rivals, Servite High School from Anaheim, California. The teams have partnered up and will play the game at the world-class stadium as part of the Friday Night Lights series, hosted by Rob Gronkowski.
The Braves coach Jason Negro spoke about the upcoming game and praised the brotherhood between the two schools to come together for the all-important game.
"It is an honor to officially partner with the Servite Friars for this year’s Brotherhood Bowl to be played at SoFi Stadium," Negro said, as per SoFi Stadium's official website. "The brotherhood shown by both schools to make this happen has been truly amazing and a testament to our commitment to our schools’ communities!"
Servite and St. John Bosco have played each other 35 times so far with their first matchup coming way back in 1965. The Braves lead the series 19-16 and have been a dominant force in their recent matchups. St. John Bosco has won 12 of its previous 13 meetings against Servite and will look to add to that on Friday.
