BYU signee AJ Dybantsa opened up about his Parisian heritage and gave reasons why he loved the city in an interview from the city with BYUtv last week. The No. 1-ranked prospect was in the French capital with his dad for the NBA Paris Games featuring the San Antonio Spurs and Indiana Pacers.
Dybantsa's visit to Paris was, however, not his first time in the city. According to him, his dad, Ace Dybantsa, grew up there and Dybantsa and his sisters have visited Paris regularly since they were kids.
"But the last time I was here was 2018," Dybantsa said (Timestamp: 0:47). "And then COVID came. So I didn't go, and I didn't really go anywhere. So, it's been a minute."
When asked about his favorite part of Paris, Dybantsa gave a hilarious response:
"I've been I've been coming here since I was a kid, but I might just have to say the crepes," Dybantsa said (Timestamp: 0:22).
The Utah Prep star also discussed his personal connection to the city.
When asked what else he loved about Paris apart from the crepes, he answered (Timestamp: 1:34):
"The tower, Eiffel Tower. Been there plenty of times. I mean, I just have a lot of family out here. So, every time I come, I just see my cousins, see my aunts, see my uncles."
A.J. Dybantsa headlines 48th McDonald's All-American roster, becomes BYU's first signee to participate in 25 years
Five-star prospect AJ Dybantsa and 23 other top high school prospects were selected for the 48th annual McDonald's All-American boys game on Monday. A total of 722 boys and girls were nominated for the event. However, the roster has now revealed the final 24 boys and 24 girls who will participate in the games.
Dybantsa will become the first BYU participant at the boys game in 25 years. The last time the Cougars were represented at the event was in 2000, when Garner Meads made the roster. BYU has only been represented five times previously.
