McKenna Woliczko, a potential five-star prospect in the Class of 2026, has earned the limelight with her excellent performances across tournaments. The 6-foot-2 forward is a strong candidate to be the No.1 recruit of her class. At 16 years old, Woliczko has already won multiple gold medals on the international stage.
In an interview on Jr. NBA's YouTube channel in May, Woliczko revealed that she didn't start playing basketball until seventh grade. She has tried her hands at different sports, including soccer and volleyball, but she plays basketball and softball for Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California.
She was asked to name her favorite part about basketball.
"My favorite part about basketball is just the memories and people you meet," Woliczko said (0:48).
Woliczko was selected to the USA's U16 team, which participated in the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Merida, Mexico. She was in the starting lineup for all six games, including the final. Woliczko averaged 11.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, playing a key role in her team's unbeaten gold medal run. She was also included in the All-Star Five team.
She was also part of the USA's U17 side this year. McKenna Woliczko was on the All-Star Five team again and averaged 12.4 ppg and 9.6 rpg. Team USA brought home the gold medal with a 7-0 record. Woliczko was on fire in the final, recording 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
McKenna Woliczko's College Commitment Status
McKenna Woliczko has yet to make official visits to any colleges. NCAA's rules do not allow her to go on an official visit until next year. However, she has been on unofficial visits to some top programs, including USC, UCLA, South Carolina and North Carolina. These four are the front runners to land the star forward.
Woliczko plans on giving a clearer stance on her commitment after her official visits during the spring break next year. In November, she announced on Instagram the top 10 schools she is considering: Florida State, Iowa, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina, Standford, Texas, USC and Vanderbilt.
Woliczko loves the campuses she has visited and also has a good connection with the coaches. She told On3 in November that she wants to go to a school that can set her up for the future.
