Kiyan Anthony, the Syracuse signee and son of the 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, is set to hit the court after a season-long injury that he suffered in Luhi's season opener against St. Joseph's on Nov. 30. While the injury was deemed not serious, Anthony missed a month of games.
Famous basketball page Sports Center NEXT took to Instagram, sharing:
"Kiyan Anthony tells SC Next he’ll make his senior season debut Friday at 7:30pm ET when Long Island Lutheran plays Veritas Academy on ESPN+ 👀"
Some disappointed hoops fans took to the comments section to give their reactions to the news.
"why he ain been playin?" asked a fan in the comments.
This fan was not happy with ESPN calling it breaking news:
"so this is espns breaking news now? can't even be a slow news day with so much going on in the NBA. I'm not even tryna ridicule the injury, I'm sure Anthony was out due to injury, he missed the the match against bryce school too. but cmon man, this can't be breaking news by ESPN. do better."
"I mean I’m a fan of him, but why is this breaking news?? lol 🤣," another fan commented.
This fan commented about high school players getting injured:
"Man high schoolers are already sitting out games - NBA is doomed for years."
More fans took to the comments section to give their reactions.
"Tbh he should just sit for the rest of year doesn’t need anymore potential injuries," a fan claimed Anthony should not play any more games this year.
Another fan commented:
"He def not making the McDonald all American game with that man missed games."
Bryce James comments on Kiyan Anthony's return
Arizona signee and son of the four-time NBA champion LeBron James, Bryce James, took to his Instagram story to react to Anthony's return after injury. Both James and Anthony were unavailable for their schools when they played in the LuHi Holiday Invitational last month.
"Right to it," Bryce James captioned his story.
The 6-foot-5 guard will play for Long Island Lutheran High School against Veritas Academy on Friday at the La Porte Invitational. Anthony announced his commitment to his father's alma mater Syracuse on Nov. 15. He will join Sadiq White, Luke Fennell and Aaron Womack next season.
