LeBron James is an Ohio high school basketball legend, but one of his records has been surpassed by another player. After consecutive 50-point games, Quinn Kwasniak has become the state's No. 4 all-time scorer with over 2,700 career points.
Kwasniak currently boasts 2,783 career points. He has not only surpassed James but also overtaken former West Virginia coach Bob Huggins and NBA Hall of Famer Jerry Lucas.
This achievement has sparked a lot of discussion online, especially since he received a replica of James' old high school jersey from St. Vincent-St. Mary.
"Why they give buddy a Bron jersey ? 😂," asked one commenter.
"Don’t matter. Buddy bout to be playing Call of Duty in real life in a few years," claimed another as Kwasniak has signed on to play for the Army next year.
"Lebron James will go back to Highschool to break all the record so he can have a proof to a add being the Goat. lol," one commenter joked.
Many have praised Kwasniak for breaking the long-standing record held by James, who is widely regarded as Ohio's greatest basketball player.
"That’s good company to be mentioned in keep working young fella 💪🏾," said one commenter.
"These people really hating on this guy for passing LeBron? Y’all are so weird." another pointed out.
"Don’t matter how U get there just get there !!!! Congrats QUINN KEEP GOIN." said one person.
After surpassing LeBron James' record, Quinn Kwasniak is now on track to score over 3,000 points in his high school career. Only former Ohio State guard Jon Diebler and Division II West Liberty star Jon Rasile have crossed that 3,000-point threshold.
Kwasniak is also on track to break Diebler's record of 3,208 points.
Quinn Kwasniak talks about being given the LeBron James jersey after beating Lakers star's record
LeBron James is highly revered in Ohio, making Quinn Kwasniak's achievement even more significant. Following his record-breaking performance for Cornerstone Christian, Kwasniak was presented with a replica jersey, which he discussed after the game.
“Coach Danny Schikowski gave me a LeBron high school jersey, which was cool,” Kwasniak told local newspaper the Willoughby News-Herald. “My favorite teacher, Mr. O’Keefe, loves LeBron, so he was all into it. It was also really nice of the Open Door coach to let them stop the game and he even prayed with us after. My poppa and him were friends so that was special.”
In addition to approaching the all-time scoring record in Ohio, Kwasniak is also nearing the record for the most three-pointers made. Currently holding the second-highest total at 465, he needs just 21 more to surpass Rasile's record of 485.
