Top-ranked 2025 prospect AJ Dybantsa continues to captivate fans with his performances, drawing comparisons to some of the greatest players in basketball.
On Saturday, an Instagram post by @bleacherreport highlighted one such comparison. The post featured a fan comment likening Dybantsa to NBA legend Tracy McGrady, accompanied by three video clips showcasing Dybantsa's performances.
The comparison stirred up different reactions from fans.
"TMac moved different; will be no new Mac EVER," one fan said.
"Not even remotely like T-Mac at all. Slower, not nearly as good of a handle, and not even CLOSE to as good of a jumper. Only resemblance is that he's 6' 8. T-Mac will never be emulated," another said.
Some fans, however, agreed with the comparison:
"Been watching him. I definitely see the TMAC INSPO KID IS COLD," one fan said.
"I see the resemblance, but people forget how cold 🥶 Prime Tmac was. So this is some high praise," another commented.
While many of the comments were centered around the comparison, some fans dwelled on Dybantsa's commitment to BYU.
"How did he end up committing to BYU? I need answers!" one fan said.
"Why is he going to BYU?" another wrote.
AJ Dybantsa explains his decision to commit to BYU
Despite offers from top college programs like Duke, Kansas and North Carolina, AJ Dybantsa committed to BYU. Moreover, being a school that has never landed a five-star prospect in its history, BYU seemed like an unexpected choice, especially when compared with other top programs vying for Dybantsa's signature.
The No. 1 ranked prospect cleared the air and shared the primary reason for opting for BYU.
"You know they've got NBA staff all the way down to the dietician and strength coach and my ultimate goal is to go to the NBA so why not surround myself a year earlier," he said in an interview with ESPN's Stephen A. Smith.
Regardless of which college program he commits to, AJ's quality is not in doubt, as he continues to show it over and over again.
