NBA legend LeBron James watched his youngest son, Bryce James, in action on Tuesday night as Sierra Canyon dominated the Chaminade Eagles in an 87-54 home conference win. While Bryce showcased flashes of his potential, fans were not entirely impressed.
House of Highlights shared a post about LeBron attending the game on Instagram with the caption:
"Bryce getting buckets in front of pops."
However, the comments section was far from enthusiastic. Fans were quick to criticize Bryce's performance and question the hype surrounding him. One user throwing a jab wrote:
"Y’all still think Bryce is the better brother?" a fan wrote.
Others joined in with similar comments about the youngster:
"I'm sorry, but he's not D1. I'm not going to sit here, lie to myself, and act like he is. There are kids committed to JUCOs that are better than he is, and it's just the truth," another person said.
"He plays so weak, like it doesn't look interesting, and y'all say he's the better brotha 😂," a fan said.
"I swear to God if anyone says he’s better than Bronny, I’m going to crash out,” another Instagram user commented.
The reactions didn't stop there, with some taking a dig at LeBron's influence on his sons' basketball careers.
"Let’s give LeBron some credit. He forced the Lakers to draft Bronny, who’s a low D1 college talent at best, and now he got basketball powerhouse Arizona to draft his other son, who probably averages 5 points on his HS team. Pretty impressive," one fan noted.
However, some fans also voiced their support for the Arizona-bound hooper.
"I’m telling you, he’s about to be 10xs better than his brother, respectfully," a fan wrote.
"Nah his handle is supreme for his age.💪🏾," another fan wrote.
How good has Bryce James been at Sierra Canyon?
When Bryce James announced on Jan. 1 that he was going to commit to Arizona, it took many experts and fans by surprise as they believed he didn't have the credentials to be on the Wildcats roster.
Bryce, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard, is a three-star prospect in his senior year at Sierra Canyon. He’s averaging 6.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game.
However, his father, LeBron James, and mother, Savannah James, remain hopeful that Bryce will shine in Arizona. Speaking on "GoJo and Golic," the NBA veteran opened up about Bryce’s decision to join Arizona and shared that he completely supports his son.
"He made his own decision, and as parents, myself and Savannah, we just support him, you know? We're excited for his next chapter once he gets down there, and hopefully, I don't have to buy the gear," James said (Timestamp: 8:19).
The young guard had offers from Ohio State Buckeyes and Duquesne Dukes, but he ultimately picked the Wildcats.
