Class of 2026 three-star cornerback Justin Lewis committed to the UNC Tar Heels on Monday. He chose the Bill Belichick-led side over programs like Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Miami, Syracuse, Nebraska and SMU.

On Tuesday, Rivalsdotcom posted the news of the commitment on Instagram. California native and Mater Dei High School wide receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt joined fans in the comment section to congratulate Lewis.

"Yessir," Dixon-Wyatt wrote.

Most North Carolina fans were hyped to see Belichick acquire a talented defenseman for his roster and supported Justin Lewis for his decision.

"You finna love the East Coast my guy, it gets no better over than here," one fan wrote.

According to On3, Lewis racked up 47 total tackles, one sack, three quarterback hurries and three interceptions as a junior at Rancho Cucamonga High School.

The North Carolina Tar Heels head into an interesting future under legendary head coach Bill Belichick. The former New England Patriots' head coach signed with Tar Heels on Dec. 11 after being away from the sidelines for almost a year.

The coach of the Tar Heels has set his sights on securing commitments from some of the best prospects from the upcoming classes. And, Class of 2026 three-star cornerback Lewis became the Tar Heels' latest commitment. He joined the likes of three-star recruits Marcellous Ryan and Zaid Lott.

According to 247Sports, the program's class ranks 31st in the country, whereas its Class of 2025 ranks 35th.

The Tar Heels endured a difficult season. They finished the year with a record of 6-7 and lost the Wasabi Fenway Bowl game to the UConn Huskies, 27–14. Belichick will want to add more athletes from the class to his roster, but the start is promising.
