Colorado's 2025 class once looked lackluster with only a few recruits, but five-star quarterback Julian Lewis' commitment gave the cycle a big boost. This class added four prospects on Thursday and remains hot to land more players, possibly including four-star safety Zelus Hicks, who has pledged to the Texas Longhorns.
Even though On3 has listed him as a hard commit, Hicks made a skeptical post on X that has many wondering:
"Big announcement December 4th!! 👀👀 Tune in!"
Hicks, a safety, is Julian Lewis' teammate at Carrollton High School in Georgia and was offered a scholarship by Deion Sanders last week. Meanwhile, on Thursday a fan on X asked Lewis to bring his teammate to Colorado, to which the future starting quarterback replied by tagging two of his high school mates -- Hicks and Shamar Arnoux, a three-star cornerback who's committed to Auburn.
All of this has the rumor mill churning that Hicks, in particular, might flip his commitment to join his teammate at Colorado. Fans flooded the comment section, with many hoping for him to come to Boulder.
"Everyone and their mother knows where you're going! Your QB1 called for you, so we will see you in the spring. Enjoy the moment!" A Buffs fan said.
"When QB1 summons you, beckon the call," another fan wrote.
"Commit to the buffs im getting your jersey when your number release !! 🦬🦬," a fan chimed in.
Despite Julian Lewis wanting Hicks in Colorado, many wanted the safety to stick with his pledge to Texas.
"Stick with Texas," a fan said.
"Go to UT if you want to win a natty." A fan wrote.
"If you want to play for natties and be developed into a first round pick you know what to do my man. Good luck either way," another fan said.
Julian Lewis tried to recruit Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng
Four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, from IMG Academy in Manassas, VA, remains one of the highest-rated uncommitted prospects in the 2025 class. He sparked his interest in Colorado by sharing a post on X in Buffaloes apparel, and Julian Lewis reached out in the comment section to recruit him for the Buffs' 2025 cycle on Thursday:
"We Coming 🦬."
Owusu-Boateng is considering several top programs, including Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, USC, Florida, Ohio State and potentially Colorado. The Buffs will face stiff competition, particularly from Michigan and Notre Dame.
Recruiting expert Sam Spiegelman from Rivals has projected Owusu-Boateng to the Wolverines, while On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Notre Dame, giving the Irish a 29.9% chance of landing the linebacker. Michigan trails with a 13.5% chance.
