It's been four days since Marcus Johnson put on a show in Garfield Heights' non-conference win over Cleveland Heights, and yet, fans haven't still stopped talking about it. On Monday, a post that highlighted the five-star prospect's impressive performance in that match was shared on Instagram, and as expected, it has reignited the hype and has got fans talking again.
The post, which was shared via Instagram @ballislife and also on Marcus's official IG page @marcus_johnson32, features the Five-star Ohio commit in action, dropping buckets, sinking threes, throwing down dunks, weaving through defenders, and generally being brilliant. Seeing the post, fans have naturally flocked to the comment section to further pour down their praise and admirations on the five-star prospect. One fan even likened him to ex-Miami Heats star Mike Beasley:
"Yung Mike Beasley," said a fan.
"He is the ONE and nothing other than that PERIOD !!!!! MJ is "HIM," said another.
"Has that DJ Wagner game 🔥," another commented, likening him to 19-year-old Arkansas Razorback point guard Dajuan Marquette.
Some sections of the comments decided to go down memory lane, reminiscing over the player's career and growth over the years:
"Man I'm getting old. Remember when this kid was nowhere near dunking," one fan said
"Damn, the fact that we've been watching bro since he was 11-12 shi crazy😂😂," said another
"I remember whn Youngin was a freshman hoopin varsity, wasn't scared a bit and let that thang go 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽," another commented.
"He's been doing this for 4 years straight," said another
While the majority of the comments were that of praise and admiration, some sections of the fan, however, believe that the 6-foot-2 point guard is overly left-handed:
“Another shifty lefty!!😎,” said one fan
"Another Lefty from Ohio State DLO," another said
"Looks good. Work on that right hand, and it will be even better," another fan commented.
The game, which took place on Saturday, Dec. 21, ended in a 73-66 scoreline in favor of the Bull Dogs. Marcus Johnson ended the game with an impressive 23 points, four assists, five steals and five rebounds. He's currently the No. 1 ranked player in Ohio, and he's consistently proven that this season, leading his team to an impressive 5-0 record.
What's Next for Marcus Johnson?
While being a class of 2026 prospect, Garfield Heights star Marcus Johnson already announced his commitment to Ohio State University. This means that the junior still has a lot of time to spend in high school basketball before eventually transitioning to college if he does not reclassify.
At the moment, the Ohio State commit will be focused on Garfield Heights. He'll be hoping to lead the Bulldogs to another successful campaign, replicating and maybe exceeding last season's impressive 25-2 record. With five games and five victories this season, the Bulldogs are definitely on the course to achieving another successful season.
