There aren't many basketball prospects in the 2024 class as highly rated as five-star shooting guard Meleek Thomas from Atlanta. This was how college basketball insider 247Sports’ Eric Bossi felt watching him feature in the Overtime Elite Combine.

“You know, he proved pretty much unguardable out there," Bossi said. "He got to a spot, but he did so without, like, jacking by any means. Like he was, he was playing team basketball but he was going fast. And he was playing with a purpose. And it really stood out to me.”

Thomas transferred to Overtime Elite in Atlanta, Georgia for his senior high school season after starting out at Lincoln Park Performing Arts in Midland, Pennsylvania. He's 6-foot-4 and weighs 175 pounds.

Meleek Thomas was instrumental in the Leopards' WPIAL and state titles during the 2022–23 and the 2023–24 seasons, respectively. Last season, he averaged 22.4 points in 28 games for the Leopards.

Meleek Thomas’ college options and visits

Meleek Thomas, the No. 1 shooting guard in the country by 247Sports Composite, is well sought after. The high school senior has received 23 college offers. With a visit to Alabama scheduled, his evaluation of his college options continues in earnest.

His previous campus visits this year include Auburn in January, Kentucky in February, UConn in June and Pittsburgh in March.

In addition to his Alabama visit, Thomas is due to visit Arkansas on Oct. 4.

One thing that stands the Crimson Tide out for Thomas is their playing style, which he described as “very professional, very NBA.” He also noted that Alabama is “very guard-oriented.”

His attraction to Arkansas is more personal, noting that Razorbacks coach John Calipari has been recruiting him since eighth or ninth grade. Their relationship has transcended:

“It's more family; it's more relationships,” he said.

Notwithstanding, Pittsburgh is still a favorite to sign Meleek Thomas, having the advantage of being his hometown school. Fingers are crossed as he gets set for his senior season and edges closer to a college commitment.
