REPORTS: California high school athlete and father lose lives in plane crash in Fullerton

The California high school sports scene has been thrown into mourning as a standout player and her father died. Kelly and Pascal Reid were killed in a plane crash on Thursday in Fullerton, California.

According to Sports Illustrated, Kelly and Pascal Reid traveled in a Van's Aircraft RV-10. The plane, owned by Pascal, hit a furniture warehouse named the Michael Nicholas Design Factory. The report states it was a "small single-engine plane," which went down mere minutes after takeoff from Fullerton Airport. It climbed to 900 feet before it turned around in an attempt to return to the airport. The aircraft crashed about 1,000 feet from the runway.

The crash saw 11 people hospitalized and eight treated at the crash site. Tributes have been shared by friends, loved ones and fans.

Kelly's high school soccer team posted a tribute via the Huntington Beach girls' Instagram account:

"Yesterday, our soccer family suffered an unimaginable loss. Kelly Reid and her father Pascal were tragically lost in a plane accident. Kelly was an amazing girl, genuine and kind, passionate about life. She was a loved varsity soccer team member and wore the number 6.
"The number 6 embodies love, harmony, and caring for others. I can't imagine a better way to describe our special number 6. Kelly was a natural caregiver and always put others first. She'll be deeply missed. Her father was all our games, ever so proud of his daughter. Our love and prayers go out to Tara and Rebekah Reid."

California star Kelly Reid was a multi-talented athlete

Kelly Reid thrived in various sports: soccer, flag football and lacrosse. She thrived in all three.

In flag football, Reid amassed 123 catches for 1,738 yards and 22 touchdowns. She earned All-Sunset League honors for her efforts.

Following her and her father's death, there was a vigil held in a church for them on Friday. NBC Los Angeles reported that around 100 classmates attended the farewell vigil.
